Licking our lips in anticipation

Just four days now till the first main course of impulse is served, with the incomparable Akram Khan preparing to entrance Chennai at the opening of his six-city tour of India. Akram is one of the superstars of UK contemporary dance, and following his starring role in the Olympics opening ceremony, this is set to be one of the hottest tickets in town. Before that, we’ve the press launch tomorrow, which is set to offer the good people of the media a rather special treat.

But the hors d’oevres have already appeared at the table to whet our appetites, with the perfect pairing of UK dance critic Sanjoy Roy and Sadlers Wells producer Emma Gladstone currently in the middle of a whistlestop tour of Chennai, Bengaluru, Delhi and Kolkata, networking, learning and sharing. Friday’s public talk in Kolkata is set to offer a fascinating insight into the relationship between the critic and the critiqued.

It’s all shaping up to be quite a feast.
